Hongik University Students Win Ferrari Design Award
Hongik University students have won the top prize in a global
contest for design students hosted by luxury sports-car maker Ferrari. Ahn Dre (25), Kim Cheong-ju (23), and Lee Sahng-seok (22) who major in industrial design, took first prize with their entry
"Eternity," a next-generation hybrid car, in Ferrari's World
Design Contest 2011 in Maranello, Italy on Tuesday.The contest, co-sponsored by Ferrari and design-software maker Autodesk, attracted about 400 contestants from some 50 design schools or colleges around the world. Ferrari selected seven finalists. "Eternity" is a red hybrid car with an aerodynamic design. It was praised for applying a new propulsion system to cut fuel consumption. "I am certain that some of these suggestions [presented in the competition" will come to light in the Ferraris of the future," said Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo, who was there to hand out the prizes.The students get prize money as well as an opportunity to work as interns
at Ferrari's Style Center.
