Hongik University Students Win Ferrari Design Award

Hongik University students have won the top prize in a global
contest for design students hosted by luxury sports-car maker Ferrari. Ahn Dre (25), Kim Cheong-ju (23), and Lee Sahng-seok (22) who major in industrial design, took first prize with their entry
"Eternity," a next-generation hybrid car, in Ferrari's World
Design Contest 2011 in Maranello, Italy on Tuesday. The contest, co-sponsored by Ferrari and design-software maker Autodesk, attracted about 400 contestants from some 50 design schools or colleges around the world. Ferrari selected seven finalists. "Eternity" is a red hybrid car with an aerodynamic design. It was praised for applying a new propulsion system to cut fuel consumption. "I am certain that some of these suggestions [presented in the competition" will come to light in the Ferraris of the future," said Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo, who was there to hand out the prizes. The students get prize money as well as an opportunity to work as interns

SSC TUATARA WORLD’S FASTEST CAR BORN IN SHANGHAI

Shanghai – The competition for the fastest car is now starting again. Having previously shown only in the form of photographs alone, are now candidates for the world’s fastest cars, Shelby Supercars (SSC) tuatara is present in the real world. SSC tuatara show in Shanghai. SSC, which also produces ‘former’ world’s fastest car Ultimate Aero TT world made his debut for tuatara in Shanghai, China. This car is claimed to run up to speeds around 275 mph or 442.5 km per hour. The choice of China as the tuatara SSC launch site this could be due to the phenomenon of China’s economy continues to strengthen making the car market there continues to crawl potential. Moreover, there, in addition to introducing tuatara SSC also announced their new distributor for Asia, Asia SSC. “Announcing our products here in Shanghai for the Asia is another realization of a dream realized the SSC,” said Founder and CEO of Jerod Shelby SSC. The name tuatara (pronounced twu-tar-ah) itself is inspired from the name of a lizard in New Zealand are taken from the Maori language.

These lizards have the DNA of the fastest growing in the world. That’s what Shelby wants the new supercar. His body, the SSC tuatara using carbon fiber material, both for body and chassis. This is to maintain body weight SSC tuatara remain light without compromising strength. While pacunya kitchen will be filled by an ear of the twin-turbocharged V8 which will have a capacity of 7.0 liters. The machine was then mated with a 7 speed manual transmission that will be channeled through the rear wheels. Reportedly, this transmission is the same transmission with the transmission of the latest Porsche 911. And to his ability, crazy machines were capable of spraying power until 1350 horsepower and reportedly were able to make SSC tuatara fast track to 442.5 km per hour speeds. With these capabilities, the SSC will break the predicate tuatara predicted the world’s fastest production car that is still held by the exclusive super cars and super expensive, Bugatti Veyron Super Sport and avenge Ultimate Aero which previously held the title it defeated the Bugatti Veyron.

Racing car powered by chocolate and steered by carrots!!

Researchers at the University of Warwick have today, Tuesday 5th May, unveiled the WorldFirst Formula 3 racing car which is powered by chocolate, steered by carrots, has bodywork made from potatoes, and can still do 125mph around corners.
There has been much speculation about the creation of this car but it has now been completed and today is the first day it has actually been ready to drive.
Following the recent turmoil in Formula 1 arising from the high costs of running competitive motor racing teams, and doubts in sponsors’ minds over the commercial value of their involvement, the viability of motor racing is being critically questioned. With this in mind the University of Warwick team based in the University’s Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) and the Warwick Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre decided to build a competitive racing car using environmentally sustainable components to show the Industry just how much is possible using current environmentally sustainable technologies.
It is the first Formula 3 racing car designed and made from sustainable and renewable materials, putting the world first by effectively managing the planet’s resources. The car meets all the Formula 3 racing standards except for its biodiesel engine which is configured to run on fuel derived from waste chocolate and vegetable oil. Formula 3 cars currently cannot use biodiesel.
It s a”Green”super car!!!

2010 Zenvo ST1 Exotic Super-Car

It's Europe's latest hyper-exotic car costing just over $1 million and it's based on one of America's most celebrated sports cars, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
Called the Zenvo ST1, it's completely designed and built in Denmark with exclusivity, luxury, and of course, extreme performance in mind. We reported on it late last year, and despite our initial doubts, company execs maintain their ST1 will indeed make it to production. Graciously, they've given us more images to drool upon ahead of its European release later this year, so sit back and enjoy...
What a beauty!!!

EXOTIC CARS

Model: Venom GT
Styles: Venom GT
Engine: 6.2-liter V8
Power range: 725-1,200 horsepower
Torque: 741-1,133 pound-feet
Gearbox: Six-speed manual
Configuration: Longitudinal midengine, rear-wheel drive
Claimed top speed: 267 mph

Just the idea of stuffing a hot-rodded LS9 power plant in the back of a Lotus Elise is enough to make our loins ache. And it's exactly the kind of overkill Hennessey Performance Engineering loves to create. Hennessey's Venom GT is available with several power options which shouldn't make any difference in its sub-100-mph performance. And above that, this thing will be insanely quick. Fortunately, Hennessey has done computational fluid dynamics on this most menacing machine.
This is just a nice way of saying that it souldn t get airborne when the speed gets silly.
